Party Tray for May

Description: I first started with a slab. Then I propped it up by placing small pieces of clay in the sides. I let it get leather dry and then I smoothed it out. For the small bowl I took a piece of clay and made a pinch pot and smoothed it out with a sponge. I glazed the tray with lemon glaze and used the small trailing underglazes for the design. I then topped it all off with a clear glaze.

Analyzation: I used color with all the bright colors. I wanted to give off a Mexican vibe. I also used movement because the design gets your eye to move all the way around the tray. The biwl usescolor because it is a bright red. The small bowl forms untiy with the tray because they look like they go together.

Interpretation: I wanted to make a mexican bowl that would work perfectly fir chips and salsa and I think that I was able to capture that idea.

Judgement: I really like the way it turned out. The yellow is very bright and gives off the mexican vibe I was hoping for. I just wish that the underglaze tubing I did didn't crack.

Fuse Morph

Description: I used slab to place all four sides onto the bottom slab. I slip and scored them. I then smoothed out the inside and outside. Afterwards I added pinapple like indentations to the outside of the piece. I covered the piece with brilliant red glaze and added some pink glaze to mix up the colors. I added yellow in the grooves even though after it was fired no one could notice. I also, used light yellow glaze in the center to
represent the pinapple side of the piece.

Analyzation: I used color to help show my vision. I used proportion and balance since the piece is even on both sides and works together as one put together piece. I used texture because of the grooves on the outside. The grooves also, show a sense of movement making your eyes move around the piece.

Interpretation: I made this as my fuse morph piece and wanted to combine a strawberry and a pineapple to a vase.

Judgement: I loved my piece before I glazed it. The glaze didn't come out how I was hoping it would. The light yellow on the iutside didn't even show uo and I was dissappointed about that as well as the yellow color in the center. It almost looks gold which was not the color I was going for.

Stamps

Description: I took slab for each and rolled it out. Then I coiled four small pieces and slip and scored them together and placed them onto the piece.

Analyzation: I used proportion in this piece and emphasis on the E.

Interpretation: I created thisnproject to have a stamo to place on all my other projects so people know that they are mine.

Judgement: I like the way they turned out. If I were to redo them I would clean up the E's a little more.

Class Collaboration

Description: I started with a piece of clay. I then rolled it into a slab. I then traced my section of the map and put it on my slab. I used it as a stencil and cut the division. I then added mountains to the land side by sip and scoring balls onto it and smoothing them out. I then used a wooden tool to make the the water. Then I smoothed the entire thing out. i first used peacock glaze then placed medium blue in the crevices to give a deeper look. I then used cotton glaze to accent the waves and show that it is the top of the water. On the antartica side I used iceberg glaze then I used cotton to add some lighter parts and grey glaze to show the dark parts.

Analysis: I used movement with the water so it looks like it is flowing. I used proportion because its even on both sides. I also used emphsis on the border so you can tell between the mountains and water.

Interpretation: I made this piece to be as close to a real map as possible.

Judgement: I really like how it turned out. I just wish I added a few more mountains to the land side. I also, wish I made it more flat so it wasn't as curved at the bottom.

Cultural Piece

Cultural Piece-
Description: I started off with the vision of making an italian cup, but that shifted to an italian vase. I began by shaping a piece of slab into a cup shaoe. I then made a botton for the piece and slip n scored that on. I pressed the bottom in to give the indented appearance.
Then at the top I pused the sides in to give it a cultural look. I then used chrome green, brilliant red and clear gloss to put the italian colors at the bottom. I  then used the gloss glazes in the special bottles to design the Italian symbol in the center. Then I gloss glazed clear over the rest of it.

Analysis: I used emphasis on the italian symbol as well as color. I also used balance and proportion because it was even and similar on both sides.

Interpretation: I really wanted to capture italy in this piece. I placed the italian symbol in the center and used the italian flags colors at the bottom.

Judgement: Overall I really like this piece and feel like it really represents Italy. I just wish I gloss glazed over the symbol in the center.

Class Choice

Class Choice-
Description: First I cut out two oyster-like shapes. I then curved them to make it so they would come together in the right shape. I slip n scored the two pieces together. Then I rolled out a ball and slip n scored that into the center. I took a shell and scraped texture to the outside of the oyster to give it a real appearance. I then glazed the piece with charcoal black, pink and clear gloss glaze.

Analysis: I used texture on the outside of the piece to give it a realistic appearance. I used proportion making it even on both sides. I made emphasis on the pearl giving it a lack of color amidst the bright pink. I also used contrast between the black and pink I used.

Interpretation: I wanted this piece to be the class choice of an animal figurine. I haven't made a decorative piece yet and really took this opportunity to do so. I wanted it to be elegant and I feel that was achieved.

Judgement: I think the piece came out really good. I just wish I made it bigger and maybe applied some extra coats of glaze to give a less streaky appearance.

Thrown

Description: I wedged my piece of clay. Then I placed it on the wheel to be thrown. It took a lot of patience. This was the fourth time I threw a piece on the wheel. My first piece was lost. I decided just to let it dry as is.

Analyzation: This piece is proportionate and balanced.

Interpretation: This piece was meant to be a bowl. I wanted it to be functional and simple. That is exactly how it turned out.

Judgement:
