Class Choice-
Description: First I cut out two oyster-like shapes. I then curved them to make it so they would come together in the right shape. I slip n scored the two pieces together. Then I rolled out a ball and slip n scored that into the center. I took a shell and scraped texture to the outside of the oyster to give it a real appearance. I then glazed the piece with charcoal black, pink and clear gloss glaze.
Analysis: I used texture on the outside of the piece to give it a realistic appearance. I used proportion making it even on both sides. I made emphasis on the pearl giving it a lack of color amidst the bright pink. I also used contrast between the black and pink I used.
Interpretation: I wanted this piece to be the class choice of an animal figurine. I haven't made a decorative piece yet and really took this opportunity to do so. I wanted it to be elegant and I feel that was achieved.
Judgement: I think the piece came out really good. I just wish I made it bigger and maybe applied some extra coats of glaze to give a less streaky appearance.
