Review Piece

1st One:

Description: I rolled out a slab then rolled texture onto it. Then I cut out an E. I smoothed the sides out and made them even. I then painted it in black underglaze.

Analyzation: This main focus of the piece is the texture on the E. The pattern I rolled onto it. I also used proportion. On both the top and bottom of the E is proportionate. It is also, symmetrical. If I were to fold the E over in the middle it would line up evenly on both sides.

Interpretation: This piece was made to lean against the flower vase in my room. I thought it would be cool to make the first letter of my name into a masterpiece.

Judgement: I overall am very happy woth this piece. It came out smooth and even. If I were to change it I would probably make the E a little bigger.

2nd One:

Description: I first rolled out a slab. Then I cut out a square. Then I curled the sides inward and placed clay to there to hold them up. I then coiled out handles and slip and scored them to each side. Next I underglazed with aqua for the whole top and pink for the handles and the bottom.

Analyzation: The piece is proportionate on both sides and balanced. The emphasis is on the handels that is why they are pink and the rest is aqua. I also, used color, I chose bright ones to make the piece more cheerful. Shape because it is a square with curled edges.

Interpretation: I made this piece so it would be functional. A tray can be used for a variety of uses and that was my goal in making this piece.

Judgement: I overall like the piece. I think it came out nice and serves the purpose I was going for. If I were to change it I would have scraffitoed a design in the center.

Texture

Description: I rolled out a piece of slab. Then I cut out a square. Since this was my texture piece I decided to roll out little balls then slip them onto the piece. I figured that wasn't enough and decided to cut out around the circle to add some more texture. I then added aqua underglaze over the entire piece and peach on the circles.

Analyzation: I used color over my entire piece. I chose brighter colors to give the piece a nice, light feel. I used texture with the balls and indents. I also used emphasis because the emphasis is on the peach texture parts. The piece is quite proporional and balanced. One side isn't too much bigger than the other.

Interpretation: I created this piece as a tray. Trays are very functional and are easy to find a use for. Texture s easiest to place on a slab piece as well.

Judgement: Overall I like the piece. I wish it was a little more smooth and even. I really like the colors I chose I think thet work well together. If I were to change it I would have let the slab become leather hard bwfore I molded it and use a ribbon tool instead of a scraffito to scratch around tge circles.

Slab

Description: First I made a cutout of a shape which happened to look a lot like a vase. Then I rolled out a large piece of slab which I cut two identical pieces if my cutout. I also, cut rectangular pieces for the sides. I let all the pieces become leather hard. I then slipped and scored the sides onto one base piece and smoothed it out. Then I slipped and scored the last piece on. I lastly decided Iwanted to add a design. I took a shark tool and drew many lines on the outside.

Analyzation: I used shape to get the vase the unique shape it became. As well as proportion because each side has the same proportions. Lastly, texture from the lines.

Interpretation: I made this piece by chance. I simply saw the person in the slab video use cutouts amd I wanted to do the same.

Judgement: I actually really like this piece. I deel proud of it and would place it in my home. If I were to change it I might have changed the design to something more standard.

Masterpiece

Description: I mainly used slab to create this piece. I first started by rolling out a piece if clay. Then I cut 6 petals out of it. I then coiled a piece of clay for the bottom and rolled out a ball for the center. I slip and scored the petals onto the coil and tolted them upwards. The I smoothed out the back and sliped it into a smooth finish. I finished the piece by adding the ball in the center. I glazed the piece ombre. It just didn't come out that well. I used red in the middle of the petals. Victorian red at the ends and on the back and burgundy near the center. Charcoal grey was lightly placed in the center. I only used glazes for this piece.

Analyzation: I used shape with the petals. As well as another main property I used was color. The bright red was one of the main things I tried to capture. The flower is proportional and the piece is quite balanced.

Interpretation: This was a representation of the Georgia O' Keefe painting. I captured the flower as well as the bright red tones she used in her painting.

Judgement: I like the piece itself I just wish I hadn't used the burgundy in the center because it didn't come out that good. If I were to re-create it I would use all the same shape of red and smooth out the center more.
